Secondary Packaging and End of Line Automation: A Strategic Investment for Modern Manufacturing

Secondary Packaging and End of Line Automation: A Strategic Investment for Modern Manufacturing

In today’s manufacturing environment, secondary packaging and end of line automation are no longer secondary considerations. They play a central role in determining operational efficiency, product quality, and long term competitiveness.

Companies that modernize their end-of-line operations see measurable improvements: higher productivity, lower operating costs, improved safety standards, and more consistent output. In fast-moving markets, these advantages are not incremental they are decisive.

Why End of Line Automation Matters

The end of the production line is where efficiency either holds together or falls apart.
Automated end of line systems ensure:
• Accurate case packing and sealing
• Consistent product positioning
• Precise pallet patterns
• Reduced handling errors
The impact is immediate: fewer rejects, fewer returns, less product damage during transport, and stronger quality control.
Beyond performance, automation also reduces repetitive and physically demanding tasks for operators, contributing to a safer and more compliant work environment.

The Role of Secondary Packaging

Secondary packaging includes all operations that follow primary packaging case packing, sealing, labeling, weight control, and palletizing.

This stage forms the bridge between production and logistics. When optimized, it protects the product, improves warehouse flow, and enhances the customer’s perception of quality. When neglected, it becomes a bottleneck.

Manual processes or outdated equipment can slow down the entire production line and limit scalability. That’s why companies focused on growth increasingly prioritize this area.

Tiber Pack: Engineering Efficiency Since 1968

Since 1968, Tiber Pack has specialized in end of line automation, designing and manufacturing reliable, high-performance systems built to last.

The company’s secondary packaging solutions integrate advanced technologies and intelligent software to meet the demands of flexible production environments. Systems are designed to manage multiple product formats with fast, guided changeovers reducing downtime and maximizing line efficiency.
This level of flexibility is particularly valuable for:
• Private label producers
• Companies with diversified product ranges
• Manufacturers operating in fast-changing markets
Adaptability is no longer optional it is a competitive advantage.

Questa flessibilità è particolarmente importante per aziende che operano nel mondo delle private label o per realtà con ampie gamme di prodotto, dove la capacità di adattarsi rapidamente alle richieste del mercato rappresenta un vantaggio competitivo concreto.

But what truly differentiates Tiber Pack is its long term approach. The relationship does not end with installation. Comprehensive after-sales support includes remote assistance, rapid technical interventions, spare parts management, new format development, and preventive maintenance programs.

The objective is simple: keep your end-of-line running at peak performance over time.

Automation as a Critical Success Factor

Shorter lead times. Smaller production batches. Higher quality expectations.
These are the realities of modern manufacturing.
Investing in automated secondary packaging is not just about speed. It’s about building a production system that is efficient, reliable, and ready to scale.
Companies that strengthen their end-of-line operations gain flexibility, reduce operational risks, and position themselves for sustainable growth.

In today’s competitive industrial landscape, end of line automation is no longer a technical upgrade it’s a strategic decision.
And increasingly, it’s a necessary one.

Wrap Around with Pre-tear and Tray

Wrap Around with Pre-tear and Tray: the new frontier in packaging with Nicetuck technology for the snack market

In the snack sector, where shelf visibility and product organisation influence purchasing decisions,
companies are looking for innovative packaging solutions that reduce operating costs and
improve sustainability, both for retailers and end consumers.

In this context, Wrap Around with pre-tear and tray, integrated into the Nicetuck automatic glueless cartoning system, is proving to be a high-performance solution for creating shelf-ready packaging and optimising product presentation at the point of sale.

Wrap Around

Why the Nicetuck Wrap Around is ideal for the snack market

The snack sector, in particular products such as crisps, uses lightweight and delicate primary packaging that is prone to damage during transport and handling. For this reason, the pre-tear Wrap-around and tray integrate perfectly with Nicetuck technology which, ensuring excellent product protection, provides adequate resistance to compression and stress generated by shipping.

The result is a modern, sustainable and high-performance packaging.

It is modern because it meets current retail needs by offering better shelf display.

It is sustainable thanks to the elimination of glues and adhesives, the simplification of materials, and the resulting improved recyclability of the packaging.

It is high-performance, ensuring effective protection for delicate products such as crisps and other snacks.

Integration of Nicetuck technology into the tray

Thanks to in-depth studies and tests, Tiber Pack has decided to extend the benefits of Nicetuck glue-free Wrap Around to the tray, also known as the display.

Integrating Nicetuck technology into the tray results in easily stackable packaging and ensures excellent visibility on the shelf.

Within the Nicetuck project, Tiber Pack is paying particular attention to the snack segment and has confirmed its participation in Snackex, the international trade fair for the savoury snack and extruded food industry, which will be held in Lisbon from 17 to 18 June 2026. This participation is a strategic step towards presenting the innovative solutions developed with Nicetuck technology, designed to improve the efficiency, sustainability and visibility of packaging on the shelf.

Snackex will therefore be an opportunity to meet partners, customers and industry operators, share news, and consolidate Tiber Pack’s role as a leader in the evolution of packaging for snacks and crisps.

Nicetuck, innovation that reduces costs and improves production efficiency

Nicetuck, innovation that reduces costs and improves production efficiency

Economics is the real driving force behind every business: prudent resource management is essential to sustain growth, promote innovation and ensure long-term sustainability. Even the smallest actions, when applied on a company-wide scale, can generate significant savings and improve competitiveness.

This is where Nicetuck, the cartoning system designed by Tiber Pack, comes in bringing concrete benefits not only in environmental but also economic terms.

According to a study conducted in collaboration with UCIMA (Italian Automatic Machinery Manufacturers’ Association), a Nicetuck cartoning machine with its sealing method that does not use glue or adhesives can guarantee energy savings of up to 25% compared to traditional systems. This result translates directly to a reduction in operating costs.

The elimination of glues and adhesives thanks to Nicetuck’s innovation brings additional economic benefits: not only are purchase costs eliminated, but also expenses related to transportation, storage, and management of these materials. Furthermore, the system reduces routine maintenance interventions, as it does not require the cleaning operations typical of hot-melt units.

A further strength is the absence of additional costs for adopting Nicetuck technology. The geometry of the die used in production processes remains unchanged, except for the addition of a few specific cuts, allowing companies to implement the innovation without structural modifications or extra investments.

With Nicetuck, Tiber Pack confirms its commitment to promoting solutions that combine efficiency, sustainability and economic advantage, helping to build an increasingly competitive and responsible industrial model.
